Project Area 18 Hartsock Spring Brook Enhancement

The Hartsock Spring Brook, located on WDFW property at the base of Hartsock Grade, is a unique wetland spring that had been overtaken by reed canary grass, resulting in fish migration challenges and a loss of available spawning habitat.

The Hartsock Spring Brook, located on WDFW property at the base of Hartsock Grade, is a unique wetland spring that had been overtaken by reed canary grass, resulting in fish migration challenges and a loss of available spawning habitat. Hartsock Spring Brook is a known spawning tributary for ESA-listed summer steelhead and it provides valuable rearing habitat for ESA-listed juvenile salmonids within the Tucannon Basin. Therefore, reconnecting Hartsock Spring Brook to the main channel of the Tucannon River was deemed a high priority. The Hartsock Spring Brook enhancement project was designed to benefit all life history stages of salmonids in the spring brook.
